The Six Quarks V

Virtualization and Clusterization

Six Quarks V features designed on architectural level virtualization and clusterization solutions that are fully supported by functionality of the portal. These solutions are on wide demand by service providers and distributed enterprises. Virtualization and clusterization features are of critical importance for large enterprises, providing unprecedented resource economy, new advantages and flexibility.

Virtualization

Virtualization makes one physical installation of the system divided between several enterprises or subsidiaries, with virtual domains totally isolated from one another at the level of subordinate enterprises while the parent company or service provider retains the entire control over the system. Subordinate enterprises may have full and unlimited access to every function of the system within their virtual domains.

Virtualization

Virtualization capabilities of Six Quarks V may be in demand for service providers who will get the opportunity to offer virtual domains of the complex to their customers without placing hardware facilities at the customers' place. Thus the provider gets a competitive advantage in the marketplace, as well as costs reduction due to partial transmission of network management functions to the customer without extra investments in quality assurance complex from both the provider's and the customer's side.

Virtualization function will also be of high importance for large distributed enterprises with their own (or leasable) networks. Delegating network management functions to subsidiaries and affiliates optimizes operational costs for the parent company while simplifying and structuring network management.

Clusterization

Clusterization provides for companies owning interacting networks with unexampled capabilities for monitoring shared responsibility areas of their networks. Such companies will obtain an effective tool for localizing complicated problems in network interaction as well as a tool for jointly providing a new service to the third party. Clusterization means consolidation of separate Six Quarks V installations into a single cluster that functions on networks of several enterprises or service providers at once. For that cores of different Six Quarks V installations are interacting. This allows users to configure boundary probes on their networks, and even end-to-end measurements on more than one network. At that, all users keep equal exclusive access to their complexes, and may as well be certain that the results of internetwork measurements, which are saved on several complexes at once, are completely identical.

Clusterization

Clusterization simplifies demarcation of responsibilities between the service provider and the customer - a large enterprise, or between several service providers using the system. Now service providers jointly rendering services will be able to offer end-to-end quality assurance with SLA to their customers.
